Il Sabato Rosa del Villaggio
Celebrating balloons, bicycles, T-shirts and flags but also colorful nails and gaudy hairstyles, wigs, hanging garlands and improbable cars. Then the eager anticipation in bars and cafes, the cries of children playing in the streets, festively decorated provincial towns and villages, the 'pink' celebration of the Giro d'Italia.
This and much more is told by the photo exhibition “Il Sabato Rosa del Villaggio” by Faema, official partner of the cycling event since 2022, and Leica Camera Italia, a global leader in sports cameras and optics. The exhibition will open its doors to the public from September 6 at the Leica Galerie in Milan and will run until early October.
Indeed, the Giro d'Italia is a sensational mix of pleasure and tradition, an experience to be shared, a passionate “glue” capable of aggregating everywhere, just like coffee drunk at the bar or at home. Faema knows all this and hence the idea of the photographic project that Leica has embraced in the round.
On display are shots taken by Giuseppe Nucci and Piero Percoco, professors of the Leica Akademie Italy, together with Clara Vannucci and Vincenzo Noletto, who wandered among the people at some of the stages of the Giro d'Italia 2024 in search of the 'pink' signs from Saturday of the village of Leopardi's memory in which the most beloved cycling race ever is eagerly awaited, skillfully combining past and present in a fine exhibition curated by Maurizio Beucci, Senior Manager of the Global Leica Akademie.
Everyone in town awaits the Giro because today’s village Saturday is pink. Don't miss the exhibition from Sept. 6 to Oct. 10 at Leica Galerie Milano at 4 Via Giuseppe Mengoni (corner of Piazza Duomo) in Milan. Hours: from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m./ 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
